jp91gst's TSi build

Well I recently aquired this car thanks to tons of help and an incredibly long night/morning. Little history on it, I bought it from Dave. When I first got the car, there was no rear end in it, it was on the side of a hill with two bricks under it. My honest first impression was what the hell did I get myself into. But being a 5 hour trip there I wasnt leaving empy handed. I had already brought my own rear end with me to put into the car and the tools to do the job. After some fidangling and fighting with it me and Tom finally got it in place and bolted up. Next had to find tires off of another car so we could pull the car up the hill side. Got the car up the hill and on flat ground to load it up. After fighting this thing right untill dark with blown out front shocks we got it loaded and were on the way home. Ran into a very aggravating and time consuming problem at Wendys. Thankfully there was plenty of help and one very nice fellow that gave us plenty knowledge/help. Finally at 5:30am we pulled into my driveway and the car was home without any unfixable damage done. I didnt do much with it yesturday other than wash it down and get most of the dirt and grime off the car from where it had sat so long. The car actually cleaned up really good. Way better than expected. But anyway as I fix/repair/upgrade things to this car I will surely take pictures.

As the car was pulled on flat ground

After getting cleaned up some

Well today I switched out the front shocks and put my chrome 2G wheels on. The fronts had cut springs and the shocks were gone so I pulled the ones off my white car and got it sitting how it should.

Yea i deffinately did not expect it to clean up the way it did. I was surprised when i could see my reflection in it. I think tomorrow i may change out all the locks with the laser's so i have a working key and locking steering column in it. I pulled the shit out of a muscle working on this thing today, so idk if the column will get done, but the doors and hatch probably will.

Got my nice black seats in finally after cleaning the hell out of the inside of the car. I think i killed another 6 or 7 spiders. Got the driver side door lock and the hatch lock switched out. Probably wont do the passenger side for a little while since the car has auto locks. Just switched out the two I use the most. Atleast I can lock the baby though and not have to worry about anyone getting into it. Still havent gotten to the harness. I am going to try and do that this week and also change out the steering columns. Any info on doin that would be awesome. Hopefully putting the motor in this week also. That depends on the harness situation. Also pulling out all of the abs stuff and switching over the brake system and having full stainless lines from the master cylinder to the callipers made. Anyway just a small update on whats going on.

Well I worked on this thing untill 3am the other day. I got all of the harness plugged in inside the car. I got a new driver side fender on her and a hood. I tried installing the HKS timer, but it was a bummer and doesnt work. It's ok though because I didnt pay for it really so no money was lost. I also got the motor sat in the engine bay for the first time. I only put in the front and rear mount as I still have some stuff to do on the cam side of the motor. But shes comming together. Still have a lot of work to do though. And I also finally got the steering columns switched out so I have a working key and ignition now. And will be a lot easier to tow with a locking steering wheel if I ever need to.

I voted for the stroker for no other reason but that I just chose that route, lol.

Its gettin there. I've only been working on it at night since its been so hot out. I'm thinking about building a makeshift paint booth when I get it completely done and spraying the car here at the house also. May get you to come help out with that one.

Honestly I'm probably going to go with that just because it would be a bad motherlover for a street car. And with the turbo I'm wanting to get, it would spool just as fast as a 16G, maybe quicker with the extra displacement.

Let me just start by saying holly shit I'm in love!! The past two days I've gotten to actually drive an awd talon for the first time really. I've driven a few just to test drive, but I've drove this car around a bit tonight and I'm in love. I've had people tell me I wont like the awd setup and how it handles and what not and they are unpredictable in turns..... Well from my driving just tonight I would say other words. This car greatly out handles any fwd dsm I've had and is deffinately predicatble while under load in corners. I wouldnt even try to pull through a corner in 1st or 2nd in a fwd for fear of wheelspin and wheelspin+turn=not good. The awd was extremely stable pulling through gears and did not slip a single bit. I did however have a few problems and I'm not sure if its because of the lsd rear or possibly a welded diff, but the rear tires do seem to want to turn at the same exact speed and the car doesnt like little turn around deals in parking lots or any supper tight turns at low speeds. So my question is, is this from the lsd and do all lsd tels do this or would it possibly be a welded diff? Either way the car is extremely fun, and I would deffinately pick it over anything fwd.

Holla at Mike before we make this 100% but I am pretty sure that car does have a welded diff in it. The previous owner had a few goodies in it like the act2600 that is why the clutch pedal was so worn.

Thats what i thought on the diff. Wasnt sure though. Anyway I got that pedal fixed and its a dream to drive now. Still needs a little adjusment but its a million times better than it was. Now I've just got to go to the store and get the biggest bottle of noespoin they have haha. And if that 2600 caused all that I do believe I'll stay with the 2100 and I'll let you change your pedals. I'll coach you through it though haha.
